I already own a chamber style vacuum machine but with a dry pump. I have to say as much as I like that machine, I prefer this one. While not quiet, this oil pump machine is considerably quieter then my dry pump unit. This thing is a beast, it weighs over 50lbs and is not easy to move around, so you likely need a semi permanent place to set it up, or you can do like me and put in on a roller cart. The hardest part of setting this thing up was getting it out of the box, after that just add the included oil and put the seal bar into place. I tested it out by sealing up some smoked cheese that I had in the fridge, it worked perfectly. I like the clip for holding the bag open better then the system on my other machine, it is less fiddley. So far I’ve been nothing but impressed by this unit, and I look forward to using for some serious sealing come moose season. While this is not an inexpensive unit, it is much more affordable than some of its comparable competitors, and it seems to work just as well, if not better.Update:I am however going to deduct a star due to not being able to get any spare parts for the machine. I contacted customer service to inquire about purchasing a spare seal bar and was told they do not carry spare parts. I find this very disappointing that if a seal bar, or a lid gasket seal goes bad your $900 machine is then just a 50 pound paper weight. To be clear my machine is working fine, I just wanted to purchase a spare seal bar.
