The media could not be loaded. As others have mentioned, the included instructions are pretty bad. I’ve used this three times now and overall it works alright (I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could). For my first batch I tried cooking the eggs for 10 minutes, which made them still too soft boiled (wet runny yolk) and very hard to remove the shells. We only like and eat hard boiled eggs in my family, so I decided to try for 15 minutes my second time. This seemed to cook them perfectly for hard boiled eggs (not overcooked) and the shells were very easy to remove. Unfortunately, the water also seemed to have begun to burn (does water burn???) and let some scorched brown areas that I was at least able to wipe off once it cooled down a little. However, every time I’ve used this there are little stains left on the metal that I am unsure how to clean off, if it even can be cleaned. Anyways, for my third time using this I added some extra water beyond the included measuring cup since I think that was why it had burned last time. For that 3rd time there was still some brown burning but it was much less so I think it’s okay, and the eggs never got burnt or harmed. Perhaps if my eggs were room temperature instead of straight from the fridge they wouldn’t need this longer cook time and the burning could be avoided… but I probably won’t test that theory.Speaking of harmed, you’ll need to be careful where you put this because hot steam shoots out pretty far from the nostril holes while in use (see my included video). If this is on a countertop it might be right at a level to steam a child’s face, so use caution. Otherwise, it’s a cute feature. One feature I didn’t like was the “egg piercer” on the bottom of the included measuring cup. It’s plastic and not very sharp so it is difficult to use without breaking eggs (I broke 2 the first time and 3 the second time despite being very careful and as gentle as possible). I purchased a separate egg piercer with a metal pin to use for my third attempt and that was incredibly easy in comparison with no broken eggs, so invest in a better egg piercer (apparently using one help avoid eggs breaking apart while being steamed since it lets out any gas or air inside the egg as it cooks).Despite the metal part getting stains, the rest of the egg cooker was easy to clean. I was afraid to break the beak so I only pulled it out as far as I could to help the inside dry. The comb (top head piece) pops on and off easily while still staying on well enough to use as a handle for the cover. So, overall, this does work but isn’t perfect. The only reason to buy this over others is because it is adorable. Well, the eyes are a little ugly but I am planning to glue on some big googly eyes. It’d be nice if this made noise when it was done, but it’s easy enough to set a timer elsewhere. Extra general tip- use silicone tiped tongs to remove the hot eggs and insert after cooking.
